Revenue Operations HIPAA EDI and Product Line Support

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), requires a Contractor to provide all necessary Transactions Liaison Support Services resources (except those identified as government furnished property or assistance) inclusive of labor, supervision and other resources required to provide Technical and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) HealthCare Revenue Cycle Processing Subject Matter Expertise Liaison Support Services.

The Administrative Simplification provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) require the Department of Health and Human Services to establish national standards for transactions, unique identifiers, code sets, and operating rules. The health care industry has been   building, updating, and maintaining an infrastructure to accommodate the complex legislative mandates resulting from HIPAA.

The VA / VHA are a covered entity under the law, requiring VA / VHA to be in full compliance with the standards always outlined in HIPAA. The VA /VHA has invested considerable time and effort over the past several years implementing multiple EDI initiatives and resolving the business rule conflicts between the VA and the payer community.  This effort continues as the VHA expands its data exchange reach to include additional third-party healthcare payers, new transaction types, and updates to current processes.  In addition, the HIPAA standards are constantly evolving and VHA will continue to build, update, and maintain current infrastructure to remain compliant and a more viable business partner in the e-Business community.

As part of our market research effort, we are seeking input from industry to identify the ability of the commercial market to fulfill potential requirements.

Thank you for your participation.
